General Information

Banff

Banff National Park is the first national park in Canada and the third created in the world. The park is approximately 6641 square kilometres of jagged peaks, alpine meadows, massive glaciers and sparkling streams. The name "Banff" is derived from the Scottish county of Banffshire, birthplace of George Stephen, the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1885, 26 kilometres of land were set aside as a federal reserve - the forerunner to Banff National Park.
