Have you dreamed of dog sledding through a pristine alpine valley while driving your own team of sled dogs? Don’t wait a moment longer – your Jasper dog sledding adventure begins now! Following a brief lesson, you will have the opportunity to drive your own team of 6 to 8 dogs or you can also choose to snuggle up in a blanket and let someone else do the driving!
Our dog sledding partner, Cold Fire Creek, is located in Valemount, British Columbia so you will be required to drive yourself through Yellowhead Pass to your dog sled experience. Travel time to the dog sled staging area is approximately 90 minutes from Jasper, Alberta. Please be prepared for winter mountain driving conditions and a time change to Pacific Standard Time (one hour behind Jasper’s Mountain Standard Time).

Is there transportation to Cold Fire Creek?
Cold Fire Creek Dogsledding does not include a shuttle this is a self drive tour.
Instructions To Cold Fire Creek Dogsledding:We are situated 120kms from Jasper. From the Jasper junction, head West on Hwy 16 towards Kamloops. 90kms down the road you will see Mt. Robson – highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. 13kms from there you will pass a weigh scale on the left. Immediately after you will be at a junction. You want to keep right and continue on Hwy 16 west towards Prince George. 15kms past the junction you will see Teracanna Resort on the left. GO SLOW! You are real close. 1.5kms ahead the Hwy will continue down a steep hill, over a bridge. At the bottom on the right hand side is the Small River Rest Area. Pull in the rest area and follow creek 0.5kms to our parking lot. We will be there getting ready for your tour. Dogsledding Trail Head Coordinates: GPS: N 53 03’ 36.2” W 119 36’ 50.1”
Should I eat before the tour?
Be sure to have eaten a full breakfast before the am tour or have had a decent snack before the pm tour as our bodies require calories to keep warm and you will be exerting additional energy prior to the trail side lunch if you are driving the sled.
What should I wear?
Dress warm in proper winter attire. Winter boots are a necessity. Running shoes get wet and are very cold. You can always take a layer off if you are too warm.

What is the cancellation policy?
Notification of cancellation must be given before 6pm, 48 hours prior to your scheduled tour. We will offer you a RAIN CHECK and reschedule your tour for another date. RAINCHECKS will have a maximum rescheduled time period of 12 Months from original tour date. Refund you 50% of your reservation. The other 50% is non-refundable. Failure of the card holder to cancel their reservation prior to this time will result in NO refund of the FULL amount of their purchase.
When does Colf Fire Creek cancel their tours?
We do not operate if the temperature is below -25 degrees Celsius (including wind chill). If avalanche hazards come into play. If there is an “official road closure” due to avalanche hazards or poor driving conditions. If such occurrences happen, cardholders will receive a 100% refund, should they not wish to reschedule their tour.

This tour is great for larger groups or families with small children that want a quick taste of dog sledding. Trip includes your introduction to the dogs, the equipment, instruction on how to drive a dog team, and 1 full hour of mushing! It concludes with a hot beverage and homemade treats back at the trailhead. Transportation not included. Driving time approximately 1.5 hours each way - Recommend departing Jasper no later than 9:30AM MST

Travel by dog team through the silent, undisturbed beauty of winter and all it has to offer. This is a great hands-on opportunity to venture deep into the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy the crisp mountain air and the beautiful scenery that surrounds you while you warm up with a hearty trail side lunch, cooked over an open campfire, hot apple cider and homemade treats. During this time you will have the opportunity to learn the history of both the area and the people (Vegetarian lunch available upon request)! Transportation not included. Driving time approximately 1.5 hours each way. Recommend departing Jasper no later than 8:00AM MST
