Overview

If seeing a wild bear in its natural habitat is on your bucket list, spring is the best time to visit Jasper! As the snow melts and fresh greenery emerges, bears leave hibernation and roam the valleys in search of food, making them easier to spot. With fewer tourists than in summer, you'll enjoy a more peaceful, intimate experience in Jasper’s breathtaking wilderness.

Spring also reveals the incredible resilience of Jasper’s landscapes. In fire-affected areas, vibrant wildflowers and young saplings emerge among blackened trees, offering a rare glimpse into nature’s renewal. Expert guides will share insights into how wildfire plays a vital role in forest regeneration, helping to create a healthier, more diverse ecosystem. Experience the stunning contrast between untouched wilderness and thriving reborn forests as Jasper’s landscapes transform.

This guided tour takes you through prime bear-viewing areas, where you may also spot elk, deer, moose, and mountain goats. As you explore, immerse yourself in Jasper’s dynamic spring scenery—from lush valleys and rushing rivers to the fascinating rebirth of fire-affected forests. Led by expert guides, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of nature and the resilience of the Rockies.

FAQ

What Should I Wear

We’d recommend wearing outdoor, comfortable clothing and closed shoes. A windbreaker/waterproof layer is nice to have as the weather changes rapidly in the mountains.

What locations will we pick up from?

We pick up from any accommodation in the Jasper townsite as well as some outlier accommodations. We pick up from the following outlier hotels: Jasper Park Lodge, Pine Bungalows, Tekarra Lodge, Alpine Village, Jasper House Bungalows, Beckers Chalets, Patricia Lake Bungalows, and Pyramid Lake Resort. We encourage guests, if possible, to meet at a central location like the VIA Station (Totem Pole) or the Jasper Adventure Centre. This expedites pickups for scheduled tours.

What locations do we NOT pick up from?

Sunwapta Resort, Wapiti Campground, Wabasso Campground, Whistlers Campground, Athabasca HI Hostel, Maligne Canyon HI Hostel, Miette Mountain Cabins, Overlander Lodge, Jasper East Gate Cabins and any accommodation in Hinton.
