Day 1: Begin with the Winter Wildlife Discovery Tour, where your family will encounter Jasper’s amazing animals and learn about their winter habits. In the evening, immerse yourselves in the cosmos during the Winter Dark Skies Tour at the Jasper Planetarium.
Day 2: Board the Half Day Train Tour to Dunster or McBride and marvel at the majestic winter scenery. The family-friendly train ride offers breathtaking views of the Rockies and a chance to relax together while learning about the area’s natural history.

FAQ
Will I get pictures of animals? (Winter Discovery)
Photos are usually taken from the inside the vehicle or on the ground at a safe distance from the animals.
How should I dress?(Train to Dunster)
Dress comfortably as you will be sitting on the train and bus for the majority of your tour!
What should I bring?(Train to Dunster)
We recommend bringing a camera, water, snacks and a lunch if you haven’t eaten before the tour. VIA Rail does have food facilities.
Is there a cancellation fee?(Train to Dunster)
Bookings cancelled 48 hours in advance will have a zero percent cancellation policy on the SunDog Tours Sightseeing portion.
As of June 13th, 2022, VIA Rail has implemented a $25.00 per ticket cancellation fee on all tickets. If VIA Rail imposes this fee at the time of cancellation, it will be applied when you request the cancellation.
Can we book dome car seating?(Train to Dunster)
Unfortunately, we are unable to book dome car seating with VIA Rail.
What should I wear?(Lake Louise & Banff)
We recommend you wear comfortable clothing as this is a lengthy drive and bring some warm layers for the Glacier Adventure. Temperatures are cooler at and around the Glacier so you may wish to have a jacket and closed-toe shoes.
Lost Items(Jasper-Banff)
Sundog Tour Co is not responsible for lost or forgotten items. Please be sure you take ALL your belongings with you. Any items left behind will be held for a maximum of 14 days.
